What it does

Mailchimp, in Qualeron

You paste an API key from your Mailchimp account and choose the audience. Qualeron reads the audience first, then adds the people who told you in Qualeron that they would like to hear from you, and keeps them in step: someone who withdraws in Qualeron is unsubscribed in Mailchimp.

An unsubscribe in Mailchimp, from the person's own link or by your staff there, withdraws their consent in Qualeron too. A subscribe in Mailchimp grants nothing in Qualeron: consent is the person's own, given in Qualeron.

Only the email address is sent, with the first and last name unless you turn names off. Someone who unsubscribed in Mailchimp and agrees again in Qualeron is asked by Mailchimp to confirm. A person erased in Qualeron is deleted from the audience.

  • Adds the people who agreed to hear from you in Qualeron, and nobody else
  • Unsubscribes in Mailchimp whoever withdraws in Qualeron, and withdraws in Qualeron whoever unsubscribes in Mailchimp
  • Optional double opt-in: Mailchimp asks each new address to confirm
  • Shows how many people are in step, waiting to confirm, unsubscribed or bounced, and why an address was not taken

Your data

What it reads, what it sends, and what it never touches

It reads

  • Your audiences' names, and the addresses in the audience you choose, to find the people who agreed to hear from you; nothing is kept about anyone else
  • Unsubscribes, bounced addresses and changed addresses in that audience

It sends or writes

  • The email address of each person who agreed to hear from you, and their first and last name unless you turn names off
  • Their subscription: subscribed, asked to confirm, or unsubscribed

It never touches

  • Anyone who did not agree to hear from you in Qualeron
  • Scores, results, exam answers or credentials
  • Anything about applications, payments or accommodations

Setting it up

How it is set up

  1. In Mailchimp, open your profile, then Extras, then API keys, and create a key for Qualeron.
  2. Open Integrations in Qualeron, connect Mailchimp and paste the key.
  3. Choose the audience. Qualeron checks it, reads it, then keeps it in step.

You will need: A Mailchimp account, and permission to create an API key in it.

Security

How Qualeron holds the connection

  • You paste an API key you make in Mailchimp, so Qualeron never sees your password there.
  • The key is stored encrypted and never shown again: the page shows only its last four characters.
  • Pausing stops it at once. Disconnecting removes Qualeron's webhook from the audience and deletes Qualeron's copy of the key; delete the key in Mailchimp too if nothing else uses it.
  • Every check, and every run that changed something, is logged in Qualeron with what it did, in counts: people are never listed.
